Tell the experts about your experience with a sociopath
PDF Lovefraud invites you to complete a survey about your experience with a sociopath/psychopath/narcissist in order to help professionals diagnose this disorder properly.
Two days ago, the American Psychiatric Association released a draft of the fifth edition its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). This book is the standard classification of mental disorders used by mental health and other professionals. The revision has been underway for a decade.
A work group of 11 doctors and psychologists focused on the section about personality and personality disorders. They have recommended significant changes to the description of antisocial personality disorder, which is also referred to as sociopathy and psychopathy. In fact, one of the suggestions is to change the name of the personality disorder to “antisocial/psychopathic type.”
The new description of the disorder is much closer to what most of us at Lovefraud have experienced. You can read the description here:
The American Psychiatric Association has invited public comment on the draft of DSM 5, and Lovefraud is taking the doctors up on their invitation. We thought the best way to do it would be to survey our readers, asking you how well the proposed description of antisocial/psychopathic type matches your experience with one (or more) of these individuals.
Please take the survey. This is serious, so be thoughtful and accurate in your responses. It will probably take you about 15 minutes, so please start it when you are sure you have time to complete it.
The survey will be open until March 3, 2010. After that, we will tabulate and analyze the data. We will prepare a report of the findings for the American Psychiatric Association. The results will also be published on Lovefraud.

Dear Gem, I like your idea, but I think Henry is right! It wouldn’t work with more than one gay guy, and he’d be hard pressed to do all of the work and cooking and animal care and then feed us grapes on top of that! I thinkk they used to call that “slavery” and it’s not PC any more. Oh, well, back to the drawing board!
No, One-step, I’m the one with the new calf, and probably another one today. Pimped my cows out to the neighbor’s bull, and counted off the days of gestation and the “last possible” day of gestation was 2 weeks ago, and bingo! But cattle can actually have some “control” over when they calve depending on weather, length of day vs night, etc. so I got a nice surprise Yea, I love little calves too, and watching them nurse, or throw their tails up and gallop around. Gives me a nice feeling of peace and love.
Saw a big flock of ducks on the pond yesterday too, going North, and as I drove up I scared them and they took off to the next rest stop. Lots of signs of spring and I am SOOOOO GLAD!!!!

This year is going fast and spring is near! And the birdie is getting big and talking if you can believe it! Thanks everyone for your comments and help. I am so unsure of my picking ability-because obviously my picker is broke!!lol I really can’t tell if this new boyfriend is good, even though he is not a sociopath which at least is a step in the right direction. But baby birdie loves him and it’s mutual and I listen to that because I know the birdies picker isn’t broken yet:) One of these days I am going to grab his phone and check his texts (like tiger woods!) It’s the only way to find out if he’s lying; after i see the texts, I will know exactly what to do. That is how I started to uncover the sociopaths lies. Something wasn’t adding up big time, so I checked his emails. Before that I trusted people so much, that I would have never invaded their privacy. Long gone are those days…

Glad things are going well with Birdie, gosh we spend the first couple of years trying to get them to walk and talk, and the next decade or so trying to get them to sit down and shut up! LOL You give that wonderful baby (a big boy now!) a big hug for me. He has an old woman in ARkansas that prays for him daily! (((hugs))))
When someone does something “secretive” I think it behooves us to WATCH OUT, that is a red flag. If it makes us have a twinge of “gut feeling” we need to listen to that!
If he doesn’t trust YOU, (like keeps a secret on his cell phone) then that tells ME he is the one that is NOT trustworthy, because trustworthy people are not “secretive”–they are open.
If this guy is not GIVING to you, then that “ain’t no relationship” in MY estimation, relationships are open, they are mutual and satisfying to BOTH parties. (((hugs))))

Dear Gem,.. did you know that grapes and raisons etc cause kidney failure in DOGS? I didn’t know that but read a list a while back (can’t remember where! DUH!) of the things that are NOT good for or fatal to animals. Aslo found out that the reason coyotes hang around hay stacks in the winter time is they are eating the cow poo for B-12 which they apparently can’t make themselves. Boy, now THERE is some really IMPORTANT information! LOL (((hugs)))) Us OLDER women are BAAAAAAD! hee hee

Oxy, a friend of mine posted some newborn calf pics on her fb page – no idea where the city girl got them or what her inclination was…
but i smiled. i love the look of them! i gotta get me some farm time! I don’t have a vehicle now, and it really messes up my out of city wanderings, but i have met a women through my last job, who has a farm, within the city limits (!), so I am going to follow up on that. She has a lot of sheep (not a type of livestock i am familiar with) but she also has some dairy cattle.
I also went to the city greenhouse last weekend – openhouse. i was worried – i can’t go anywhere where there is mold anymore – but it was great and SO WONDERFUL to smell the spring flowers – the hyacinths were so fragrant – didn’t realize the scent of the pink flower is so much stronger than the white or blue.
happy -we gonna get whacked by one more storm at least – spring!

I went to get my eyes checked for a new perscription for glasses as i am having problems seeing, thot I just needed a stronger perscription. Guess what – I have cataracs in both eyes and cant see worth a damn out of my right eye. This has really upset me, I know I can and will get it fixed with eye surgery even tho I dont have health ins. When I close my left eye I cant see out of my right, I have good perrifial (sp) but when I look into someones face i see a black spot where the face is. Dont know why this has made me think of (u no who) but it would be nice to have somebody at my side to go through this with. I know it would of been a big inconvience for him. I am gonna blame this on looking through rose colored glasses most of my life..I guess I am feeling xtra alone tonite..I have told my kids but just like explaining a sociopath it is difficult to explain cataracs unless you have it or have had it ..

sweet hens… i am sure there is a line of peeps behind me wishing we could come down and walk through this with you. it sucks to be alone when we are needing surgery and help with recuperation – mind you it sucks more to be with them.
i think what has happened is that you have developed spath vision – it’s a well known fact that if you look at emptiness long enough, you’ll see nothing.
my sight has been compromised by the toxins i am living in – i have lost about 10% of my vision in the last few months. i mention it to my friends and they vaguely nod (or maybe they are are nodding vigorously and i just can’t see it.)
I am sorry hens. this sucks. i am glad though, that there is very successful treatment. how long will it take to get surgery, and what is the healing time?

thanks onestep – i just found out yesterday, i knew something was wrong but I never thot this wrong…I have made an appt with my Indian tribe health clinic, I am 1/16 th choctaw.. I am not sure about anything, only a few friends have said it is a quick easy surgery and no recovery time,,, my appt. is june 2nd unless i go to the tribal hospital emergency room i will have to wait till then.. i am gonna make some calls and see what it cost out of pocket and maybe save up for it wich ever comes first – thanks for the kind words i need em tonite..

thing is the surgery might give you better eyesight than you have had in a long while, and that is something to look forward too.
it would be nice to have it done sooner than later, if it’s possible.
(btw, my great grandma was either cree or anishinabe. one of my goals during this time of no job is to go to the 4 directions house at the uni and start to make some connections, ask some questions. i have a little information. of course none of that info was passed down – too many generations of racism)

Sorry to hear about the surgery, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is amazing the surgery they do with lasers these day.
As opposed to surgery with losers. I had the S-ex’s so called assistance after I ruptured my achilles tendon, had surgery, and was flat-backed with a cast up to my thigh. He acted all put out. I ended up so stressed out and focusing my energies on him rather than on myself and getting better. Now I look at how perverse the situation was. So, trust me when I say you are far better off without Mike’s so called nursing skills.
Meanwhile, I’ve just about finished week one at the new job. Great office, great colleagues, great corporate housing, great job. I am so blessed. Back to NYC and my partner for the weekend. Haven’t made any decisions yet about selling my apartment. On the other hand, since I have made so many life altering decisions since I got the job offer a month ago, I guess I am entitled to sit on my hands and not make a decision for the moment.

Matt, glad you liked your new job for the first week anyway! You know, it probably wouldn’t hurt a thing for you to wait a while before selling your place, you never know what may come up in a while on this new job. Keep your options open for a little while any way if at all possible.

Sorry One-step didn’t mean to make you have an asthma attack! This time of night I do get sort of fruit cakey sometimes. Been one of those days and my twisted sense of humor gets the better of me. Henry calls me his “TWISTED SISTER” cause I am sometimes pretty funny! You think this is funny, you ought to see me dressed up in pre-1840 clothing (my sons say it makes me look like a FAT GERMAN HOUSE WIFE!) cause it is 14 layers of clothing that add about 75 pounds to the look and I get really disinhibited playing my role and it’s better than watching a drunk stumble down the street I’ve been told! My favorite part is the “liars contest” (wild stories told as “truth”) I got beat out last time though by a 74 year old guy in a bear skin coat! He deserved to win, but my story WAS A GOOD ONE!
