Ken Follet is a good author, and he and other authors are good at portraying psychopaths, because so many of the “bad guys” in popular novels ARE psychopaths. How well they are described depends on the author.

Follet’s descriptions are quite good. It isn’t infrequent though that I find good descriptons of Ps in fiction, and even in NON-fiction and in the history books I tend to read over fiction. The descriptions are great, but the understanding of these disordered people is usually not so good.
