Girl, 18, charged with manslaughter for encouraging her friend to commit suicide

Conrad Roy III, 18, of Massachusetts, committed suicide last summer by flooding his truck with carbon monoxide gas.

Before he did, his friend, Michelle Carter, 18, of Plainville, Massachusetts, allegedly sent him hundreds of text messages pushing him to go through with the act.

Carter has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Her attorney says the charges should be dropped because there is no law in Massachusetts prohibiting people from encouraging others to commit suicide.

Honor student who ‘texted her friend telling him to get back in his truck and gas himself to death’ argues encouraging someone else to commit suicide is NOT a crime, on Daily Mail.com.
