“I shot my stalker tonight”

“I’m writing this staring at the mess the police left for me, in a bit of a fog,” wrote Dasia Washington, 22, of Las Vegas on Sept. 26.

“Out of fear, the past month I had begun sleeping with a chair propped against my front door, to give myself a few extra precious seconds in case of emergency,” she continued. “I shudder to think how differently things might’ve turned out had I not barricaded the door.”

Washington and Douglas Eugene Jackson, also 22, dated for three weeks back in February.

They broke up, but Jackson wouldn’t let go.

By March, Washington was reporting him to the police. But for six months, Jackson called her from blocked numbers, showed up at her house and job, and broke into her house multiple times.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sept. 26, Jackson broke down her apartment door. Washington grabbed her 9 mm pistol and fired twice. One bullet caught Jackson in the chest. He survived and was charged.

Wow…incredible scary to have a stalker break into your home. I would highly recommend that anyone who lives in fear in their own home to go to your local hardware store or big box hardware store to purchase a home alarm system. They will have several systems types of systems for sale all using batteries (not hardwired) or a plug in remote system much like your hand held phone with no month fee as they do not connect to any phone service it would be up to you to dial 911 if someone is breaking into your home. Or you could to purchase a month security service that will automatically call your home if the alarm goes off that they installed. These usually have a one or two year contract charging a monthly fee.

You can purchase a single door or window alarm at your hardware store (takes batteries) which only require a screw driver to install…they run approx $10 -$15 per door or window. Or you can purchase a whole home system using batteries for approx $100 – $200 with NO month fees.

Most of the big box hardware stores have these type systems on their website so you can research them before you decide which to buy.

This will give you some peace of mind.

Stalkers, even if they’re just cyber-stalkers can generate great emotional stress, and the obsessive, psychopathic ones who carry a grudge and feel entitled to inflict revenge on a former lover, those who stalk and harass in real life truly can be life-threatening as this article clearly shows.

How terrifying for this young woman; I hope that she will not be prosecuted in any way for defending herself as she did.

Besides a good home security system, I recommend getting a large, well-trained dog and a shotgun for personal protection.

There are several good anti-stalking websites around the Internet now to help educate the victims of stalkers so they can better protect themselves, such as keeping a detailed log of all unwanted contact attempts. With enough evidence, it should be easier for a lawyer to help you obtain a restraining order, particularly in states that have anti-stalking laws in place.

I was stalked in person way back when I was a college kid, and the only thing that stopped the guy was the fact that I lived at home and my dad was someone you wouldn’t want to mess with. Only a few years ago, I endured nearly three years of cyber-stalking, and the only reason that stopped was that I finally figured out who it was; someone I knew in RL, and I sent the person a cease-and-desist letter.

So, my sympathies go out to anyone who has endured this.

The laws on stalking vary by state and unfortunately in my case have not been taken seriously by police.
They do show up when I call but they give me the call us when he is in your house lady spiel.
I don’t want someone breaking in my home.
Even a security system can’t stop them once they gain entry especially if they know the layout of your home.
My ex spath has lots of minions to keep an eye on me even though he lives in another state now.
If someone decides to enter my home with the intention of hurting me I pray I have the strength to take care of business.
I do not in any way shape or form advocate the use of guns but if someone who has been stalking me enters my home I will have to defend myself.
