Peruvian bishop removed, allegedly for abuse

Pope Francis has removed Gabino Miranda, 53, bishop of the archdiocese of Ayacucho, in Peru. Luis Bambaren, a retired prelate, told reporters the removal was part of the pope’s “zero tolerance” for abuse.

Then again, maybe there is more to the story. Miranda is an associate of Archbishop Juan Cipriani, who is an enemy of Luis Bambaren.  A political battle has raged in the Peruvian church, complete with espionage. Who knows what is really going on?
