He hung himself tonight. Strange for an spath. Many of them threaten suicide as one of their tactics to tighten their grip on their targets, but rarely do.

Not remorse for his actions, rather he could not stand not being in control.

  2. Here is a news report of Ariel Castro’s suicide:

Cleveland kidnapper and rapist Ariel Castro found hanged in his prison cell, official says

Actually, some sociopaths do commit suicide. Steve Becker wrote a brilliant article about this a few years ago:

    Sociopaths and Suicide

I have been approached by psychologists to study the writings of the latespath as well as third party papers. They, as well as other professionals involved in the lawsuit from hell, all agree that he was a diagnosed sociopath. He had all 8 of Hare’s first factor; as well as 7, and I was just informed of an 8th, of factor 2 traits. In the last 5 years of his life extremely sexually promiscuous and grew more ‘outside the box’ from 2003 until his death in 2008.

I have been told that it is ‘highly unusual’ that he entrapped and/or conned so many different people, from different walks of life, in different situations. In addition to my family, there was his mother, a stock broker, the sub-world of internet escorting, and a psychoanalyst he chose to see after EscortM’s death because she was her therapist. Not to mention all the real world people; professors, employers, opposing attorneys, credit companies, etc., dating to late 70s.

I was told that a highly intelligent spath is a most dangerous one because their ability to morph into any shell that is needed so as never to be questioned.

The New York Daily News on line just put up a very short article article on what an spath is. While it just touches on the subject, even this brief description, had it been written in a non-scholarly work 3+ decades ago, would have helped. By 1986 I just knew he was dangerous and crazy.

What is sociopathic disorder? Ariel Castro’s mental state could have been studied to prevent future predator attacks
A sociopath or someone with an antisocial personality disorder suffers from ‘a type of chronic mental condition in which a person’s ways of thinking, perceiving situations and relating to others are dysfunctional — and destructive,’ according to the Mayo Clinic. Outward expressions of this can be as varied as acting witty or charming, to repeatedly breaking the law.

Well, they won’t be studying Castro’s mental state any more, except in retrospect. But it’s still not too late to dissect his brain and study it for physiological anomalies. So perhaps all is not lost!

  5. Today’s news on how sick this guy may have been:

Ariel Castro may have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation, not suicide, state says

Well, I guess he wasn’t lying about his sex addiction.

I find it curious why people are so fascinated with him and want to study him. Sociopaths are all one-dimensional even if their sickness presents in many different flavors. I’m much more interested in stories of people who have survived one of these monsters. The survivors’ lives are much richer and more multi-dimensional.
