Ariel Castro arrested for holding Cleveland women captive

Ariel Castro, 52, and his brothers, Pedro Castro, 54, and Onil Castro, 50, were arrested for holding three Cleveland women captive for more than a decade. The Cleveland Plain Dealer published a story describing the men:

Focus of women’s disappearance shifts attention to Castro brothers, on Cleveland.com.

Here’s what the story says about Ariel Castro:

Court records indicate Ariel Castro fought with his former wife, Grimilda Figueroa, over the custody of their children. Figueroa twice suffered a broken nose, as well as broken ribs, a knocked-out tooth, a blood clot on the brain and two dislocated shoulders, according to a 2005 filing in Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court. In the filing, her attorney requested that a judge “keep [Castro] from threatening to kill [Figueroa].”

Attorney Robert Ferreri said Figueroa “has full custody with no visitation for [Castro]. Nevertheless, [Castro] frequently abducts daughters and keeps them from their mother.” Figueroa died last year. Ferreri could not be reached. Any record of charges being filed could not be located.

In another story, Ariel Castro’s daughter, Emily Castro, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for slashing her baby daughter’s throat. She claimed “mental illness.”

Stay tuned. This sounds like a family full of disordered people.

If he doesn’t get the death penalty he’ll keep some psychopathy researchers busy for a few years. The note keeps being refered to in the reports as a suicide note but a) he didn’t kill himself, unfortunately for his victims b) there’s no indication in it he was suicidal. It’s a pity play note which he kept lying around the house to be found if the cops eventually came calling. His uncle raped him…he needs help..that in itself proves his rationality and awareness of right from wrong ( also claiming he thought Gina Dejesus was older than 14 when he kidnapped her although of course this is a lie as she was in the same class as his daughter) so his defense will have their work cut out trying to argue he’s insane if that’s the plan. Also his contempt for proceedings yesterday refusing to face the court? The judge should have ordered guards to turn him around. Let justice be done and God bless his victims may they find peace now.
