Lovefraud reader gets con man Alistair Stewart jailed for his £600,000 con

Nina Siegenthaler, a smart, sophisticated real estate agent in the Turks and Caicos Islands, called me about 18 months ago, trying to figure out what had happened to her. She lost £600,000 to a British con man who posed as a former investment banker.

Siegenthaler worked with British authorities to get the guy prosecuted. Last week, he pleaded guilty to fraud. He is now in jail awaiting his sentencing. Here’s more on the story:

‘I had to stop him fleecing other women’: Caribbean victim of hedge fund fantasist lost more than £600,000 through ‘dating a sociopath,’ on Dailymail.co.uk.

Well, I am glad at least that he is going to prison for some small amount of time….UK doesn’t put people away for “long” for anything and his “Mental illness” (bi-polar) will get him sympathy from the UK courts.

As Dr. Leedom has pointed out, bi-polar and psychopathy are frequently found together in the same individual. ADHD is also another problem found with psychopaths as well. Of course not every person wit Bi-polar or ADHD is also psychopath but it never hurts to keep an eye out for signs of any problematic behavioral diagnosis.

I’m glad this woman is able to rebuild her life and her fortunes and I wish her well on her journey and I’m glad that she was able to help spread the word…if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

    Athena, from te first article:

Jackson is also being investigated for possible misuse of campaign funds, Reuters reported.

In his letter to Boehner, Jackson wrote: “I am aware of the ongoing federal investigation into my activities and I am doing my best to address the situation responsibly, cooperate with the investigators, and accept responsibility for my mistakes, for they are my mistakes and mine alone.”

    From the second article:

Jackson has also seen one of his former fundraisers, Raghuveer Nayak, arrested by the FBI on charges of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to doctors. In addition, the Illinois congressman has faced marital problems with his wife Sandi last year revealing that he had had an affair.

Also NOT EVERYONE WITH BI-POLAR BREAKS THE LAW….

But everyone who breaks the law may try to come up with some “Mental illness” or other reason to account for their bad behavior.

    To Nina: TOWANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate that Nina was scammed, but her courage in stepping forward and taking steps to see that this jackass was charged is priceless in the ongoing effort to educate and compel CHANGES in how the “disordered” are treated, legally.

What is more compelling is that Nina is a savvy businesswoman who was educated at one of the most prestigious business universities in the U.S. This is a vital point because it clearly demonstrates that sociopaths have the capacity to fool even the smartest of cookies.

When it comes to the frauds that these people commit, there really needs to be drastic changes in how they’re sentenced. It’s never been illegal for someone to be a jerk – people are mean, cruel, and so forth, but the carnages that spaths create are so all-encompassing that victims can never be “made whole.”

As for the bi-polar diagnosis? Please. Please. I know about 5 people who have been “diagnosed” with bi-polar disorder who exhibit very strong sociopathic tendencies. And, I mean that they meet the behavioral criteria of a sociopath, hands-down, and they conveniently point at their label as if to say, “See? I can’t HELP betraying you, taking your money, and lying to you! It’s because of the disorder, not my own choices!”

I know that I”ve typed this, before, but the exspath actually attempted to set himself up as being disordered only weeks before the marriage ended by asking me if I thought that he might be bi-polar. Sure, he was impulsive, etc., but I’ve seen true bi-polar disorder cycles, and he NEVER exhibited these behaviors – not ever. I responded with an absolutely neutral tone that I wasn’t qualified to make such an assessment and that he already knew the answer to that, himself.

Bi-polar disorder may be a challenge, but it is NO excuse. I’m in total agreement with this – it’s the easiest and most profitable method of avoiding accountability and consequences by claiming mental illness. Criminy crissmass….

I know quite a few people with bi-polar and know others professionally, but only a minority are CRIMINALS…..it is common though that psychopaths are ALSO bi polar, and/or ADHD and they also have a higher rate of left handedness as well. There are genetic issues with each of the problems, but it is the psychopathy that causes the real “problems” not the bi-polar, ADHD or left handedness….and yes, when a psychopath has all of the above disorders and my Trojan Horse psychopath was blessed with bi-polar, left handedness, and ADHD as well as professionally diagnosed ASPD—he was a proto-typical psychopath, including being a pedophile.

It doesn’t surprise me that Jackson decided to get “diagnosed” about the time the feds moved in to investigate his financial dealings. And who knows, he may actually BE bi-polar, but that is not an excuse for criminal activity in my book, and I hope the courts won’t give him a ride either but my guess is they will.

OxD, I have a dear friend that has a boyfiend who was diagnosed BPD. He’s on medications, etc., and he exhibits strong spath tendencies. He’s not a criminal (that I know of), but he’s a “glommer.” He uses his BPD as an excuse for his fits of rage, and I don’t buy it. There are ways and means to managing BPD that include medications in conjunction with counseling and behavioral modifications. So…..yeah.

  7. Alistair Stewart was sentenced to five and a half years in prison yesterday. Nina Siegenthaler gave her victim impact statement via video, as reported in the Daily Mail. Be sure to read the entire article – Lovefraud’s “10 signs you’re dating a sociopath” are printed at the end.

Donna, oh, my……thank you for posting the update on this skank. And, I’m shocked. 800K POUNDS STERLING translates into what? About 1.6-2 million dollars US?!

Stewart should be in prison, for life. He took with intent, and he’ll do it in another 3 years (given that he’s released for Good Behavior, etc.). Jeezus, gawd, WHEN are these people going to start experiencing the devastations that they inflict upon their victims???!!!!
