Doctor flees $6 million in debt and 350 malpractice lawsuits

Dr. Mark Weinberger operated a sinus surgery clinic in Merrillville, Indiana like an assembly line. He made money fast and spent it faster. With debt and lawsuits closing in, he disappeared, leaving his wife and father on the hook for millions of dollars in debts.

In this well-written story by Buzz Bissinger, Vanity Fair magazine details Weinberger’s outrageous, unconscionable behavior. “His actions, if all the accounts are true, resembled those of s sociopath, a monster for whom the only needs that mattered were his own,” Bissinger wrote.

Although the article tries to offer other plausible reasons for the doctor’s behavior, any reader of Lovefraud would recognize it. Dr. Mark Weinberger fits the profile of a sociopath.

Very interesting story! I agree wholeheartedly with Donna that this guy is showing the traits of a “gold plated psychopath.” The author’s small attempt to place the blame for Mark’s bad behavior on the lack of approval from his mother doesn’t sound in any way causal to me. What does show to me that he is high is psychopathy and narcissistic traits are the uniformed maids and drivers on the payroll around the clock to drive him, fetch his lunch, his lack of empathy about his wife spending time with her dying father, or having the wedding where her father could still walk her down the aisle.

The “best one” THOUGH SEEMS TO ME HIM GETTING HER THE DVD TO SHOW HER HOW HE WANTED HER TO PERFORM ORAL SEX WITH MORE GUSTO BETWEEN GRIEVING FOR HER DYING FATHER AND WORKING ON HER PHD.

Well,, I hope he gets more than 4 years I think he surely deserves more than 4 years after the number of people who have died or been injured as a result of his malpractice and I think it sxhould be criminal malpractice.

How about a lynch party, I’ve got the rope. EBs got rocks we could either stone him or stake him out for the bear! Maybe rub him with honey or egg nog!

I read the whole Vanityfair.com article about this Dr. Mark Weinberger – he is a sociopath, expressing many of the classic symptoms of the disorder. When his wife had a miscarriage, he didn’t show any empathy toward her during that awful time and he also didn’t seem to grieve the loss of his own child. At the end, when he skipped out of his wife’s life while on a trip out of the country (he was in hot water at home), he basically took all the money, having his wife end up penniless. What a guy! (something a sociopath would do without thinking twice about it).
