“Love Fraud” book earns 5 stars in first independent review

In the book publishing business, reviews by respected sources are critical. As soon as we had printed copies of Love Fraud – How marriage to a sociopath fulfilled my spiritual plan, we sent it to about a dozen reviewers like Publisher’s Weekly, the New York Times Book Review and the Library Journal.

The first review is in, from the Midwest Book Review. Founded in 1976, the Midwest Book Review publishes monthly book publications specifically for community and academic librarians, booksellers, and the general reading public.

Of the 169 books reviewed in the Small Press Bookwatch for November, 2010, Love Fraud is one of two books listed as a “Reviewer’s Choice.” Here’s what they wrote:

It may seem like one of the worst relationships ever. “Love Fraud: How Marriage to a Sociopath Fulfilled my Spiritual Plan” tells of author Donna Andersen’s unique journey with marriage with who she deems a sociopath lead her to a better and more fulfilling life. Strange in concept, Andersen explains her journey well and reminds readers that even when dealing with horrible people, you can emerge successful. “Love Fraud” is a fine read with intriguing ideas, highly recommended.

On Amazon.com, the review comes with five stars.

This is the opinion of a professional book reviewer. Terry and I are thrilled.

Reasons to read

Love Fraud is a multi-layered book. Why should you read it? Or why should you give it to someone to read?

1. Love Fraud is a really good read. The book is written as literary nonfiction, which means it is a nonfiction book that reads like a novel. The story is true crime, psychology, self-help and romance, all at once. Many people have told me that once they start reading, they can’t put it down.

2. Love Fraud shows what a sociopath really is. If you’ve found that people don’t understand what you’re talking about when you try to explain your experience, give them this book. They’ll get it.

3. Love Fraud validates your experience. Several people have told me that reading this book was like reading their own stories. “Are all sociopaths operating from the same instruction manual?” one reader asked. Most importantly, however, the book shows you that it is possible to heal.

4. Love Fraud explains why the sociopath may have crashed through your life. This is where I struggled. I wanted to know why I was deceived, betrayed and crushed. I prayed for answers. I demanded answers. I got them—although they weren’t what I expected.

  1. Thank you all so much for your kind words!

I’m very grateful for the review. The only thing that bothers me is that they called my journey “unique.” Gee, I have 2,200 cases of people who experienced similar journeys.

We have a lot of educating to do.
